Motor Match was founded in 2016 by Michael Smyth, with over 50 years of experience in the motor trade, to bring customers choice and value when searching for their next car.
Having previously set up and owned various businesses, including one of the UK’s leading family-owned car and van franchise dealers Swansway Group, Michael saw a huge missed opportunity for a second business selling the high-quality part-exchanges received through the franchise group.

- 2017 - Motor Match Bolton and Stockport opened in January, Motor Match Crewe opened in March.
- 2019 - Motor Match Chester opened in October.
